Asbestos find spoils festive fun.

A DEADLY find in a popular Black Country park has forced council bosses to call off a family Christmas event.

Health and safety fears were sparked after asbestos asbestos, mineral
asbestos, common name for any of a variety of silicate minerals within the amphibole and serpentine groups that are fibrous in structure and more or less resistant to acid and fire.
was found in a Doe DOE - Distributed Object Environment: a distributed object-oriented application framework from SunSoft.  Bank Park building which had been set to accommodate Santa's Grotto as part of the festive fes·tive

 celebrations.

Contractors working for Walsall Council made the discovery in the Phasey park garage, which also houses a boiler, during part of a programme to identify remnants of the cancer-causing material in Greenspace Services buildings.

As a result, council bosses have cancelled the Christmas in the Park event, that had been scheduled for the weekend.

Tim Challans, Walsall Council assistant director of leisure, said: "We regret having to cancel what is traditionally a very popular event in the community but people's health and safety cannot be compromised."

A council spokesman added: "There are many other seasonal events going on around the borough, details of which can be found on our website, www.
