Asbestos contractor bought by industry rival in pounds 14m deal; IN ASSOCIATION WITH Rensburg Sheppards.

The deal will be largely financed by the issue of pounds 10m of new shares.

Kitsons accounts for the year ended December 2006 show turnover of pounds 18.7m (2005:pounds 16.6m), and pre-tax profit of pounds 1.5m (2005: pounds 0.6m).

Kitsons provides asbestos removal, insulation insulation (ĭn'səlā`shən, ĭn'sy–), use of materials or devices to inhibit or prevent the conduction of heat or of electricity.  and scaffolding services to the nuclear, petrochemical petrochemical, any one of a large group of chemicals derived from a component of petroleum or natural gas. The cracking processes for manufacturing gasoline produce vast quantities of gaseous hydrocarbons.  and retail sectors, among others.

Kitsons employs 270 staff and is head quartered in Warrington with regional offices in Glasgow, Teesside and Birminghamand resident sites at Aldermaston and Pembroke.

The acquisition further strengthens Silverdell by combining three leading brands in the asbestos services industry. Silverdell operates in the removal and remediation of asbestos in the commercial sector, Kitsons specialises in the industrial sector and its Redhill Analysts arm looks after asbestos consulting and air monitoring.

Danny Spicer, chief executive of Silverdell, said: "This is a very exciting acquisition as it enhances our capabilities as the UK's leading, nationwide asbestos services provider as well as giving us access to high growth, industrial markets."
