Asarco Amarillo Refinery Reduces Production.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 1998--ASARCO Incorporated (NYSE NYSE

:AR) announced today that it is reducing production at its Amarillo Copper Refinery by about 15%, or 12 million pounds per month, due to a shortage of raw materials purchased from others, including copper anodes, scrap and blister blister, puffy swelling of the outer skin (epidermis) caused by burn, friction, or irritants like poison ivy. The Amarillo Copper Refinery produced 985 million pounds of copper in 1997. Asarco has purchased sufficient refined copper to meet its customer commitments through the end of 1998.
