Asarco, Unions Reach Tentative Agreement at Company's Copper Units.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 1, 1998--ASARCO Incorporated (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :AR) announced today that it has reached tentative agreement with unions covering five of its copper producing facilities. The agreement will be presented for ratification by the union with the process expected to be completed late on July 8. During this period, operations will continue normally. The agreement covers approximately 2,000 employees at Asarco's Amarillo refinery and El Paso smelter in Texas and its Hayden smelter and Mission and Silver Bell mines near Tucson, Arizona.
