Building Better Networks with Internet Access See how to access the Internet.  Solutions

Asante is highlighting its award-winning line of cable/DSL routers, including the newly released FriendlyNET(R) FR3004C, which contains a redundant modem port -- enabling customers to upgrade from a v.90 56K analog modem A common device that converts the computer's digital pulses to tones that can be carried over analog telephone lines. See modem.  and still keep it as a back-up modem. For those who also need a network print server, the FR3004LC is available for just $20 more.

Asante will also preview its new wireless router A network device that combines a wireless access point (base station), a wired LAN switch and a router with connections to a cable or DSL service. Wireless routers provide a convenient way to connect a small number of wired and any number of wireless computers to the Internet. , the FriendlyNET FR3002AL, a 2-port 10/100 switch with integrated print server and optional wireless connection. "The FR3002AL is the only router to offer users a choice -- either wired or wireless," commented William Hang, Product Manager at Asante. "This gives users flexibility at an affordable price." When users want wireless support, they simply plug an Asante AeroLAN into the router and begin talking with other 802.11b compatible devices -- including Apple AirPort.

It's Finally a Reality -- Fast, Affordable Gigabit Ethernet

Asante continues its leadership in offering affordable, powerful Gigabit Ethernet switches. The FriendlyNET GX4-800 switch contains 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports -- 7 ports of 10/100/1000BaseT and one 1000BaseX GBIC (GigaBit Interface Converter) A hardware module used to attach network devices to fiber-based transmission systems such as Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. The GBIC converts the serial electrical signals to serial optical signals and vice versa.  module interface -- which provide the flexibility to easily connect workgroups to a fiber- or copper-based Gigabit backbone. Compared with other 8-port Gigabit switches, the new GX4-800GBIC is half the price -- just $250 per port. In addition, 'Asante will feature the GX4-224 (24 ports of 10/100 with 2 ports of 100/1000) and the GX4-400 (4 ports of 100/1000) switches.

Asante will also preview new high-density Gigabit switches. "The IntraCore 65120 switches have the highest Gigabit port count in the rack-mounted 1U market," said Wilson Wong, Asante's CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  and President. "And the cost per port will be the lowest, making them the most affordable switches in their class."

The IntraCore(TM) 65120 switches offer great flexibility. Depending on the existing network structure, each GBIC Gigabit Ethernet module interface can be configured with a 1000BaseT, 1000BaseSX, or 1000BaseLX GBIC interface. This non-proprietary architecture allows customers to mix-and-match many different network configurations, reducing acquisition costs. "Customers only have to purchase what they need when they need it," added Wong.
