Asahi Soft Drinks, Others Find Vanadium in Water May Help Diabetes.

) - Asahi Soft Drinks Asahi Soft Drinks Co., Ltd (アサヒ飲料株式会社   announced on March 15 the results of recent research, conducted in collaboration with Asahi Breweries Asahi Breweries, Ltd. (アサヒビール株式会社 Asahi Bīru Kabushiki Gaisha) TYO: 2502 is the 2nd largest beer brewery in Japan and soft drink company based in Tokyo, Japan. , Nihon Pharmaceutical University and Tokyo Medical University, on water that naturally contains vanadium vanadium (vənā`dēəm), metallic chemical element; symbol V; at. no. 23; at. wt. 50.9415; m.p. about 1,890°C;; b.p. 3,380°C;; sp. gr. about 6 at 20°C;; valence +2, +3, +4, or +5. Vanadium is a soft, ductile, silver-grey metal. .

In recent experiments on mice, the four partners strove to confirm the water's benefits for diabetes. The results indicate that long-term intake (3 months) can inhibit weight gain and improve the body's efficient utilization of glucose. Furthermore, the intake did not cause an adverse effect.

The four partners have concluded that water that natually contains vanadium is beneficial to the prevention and control of metabolic syndromes, including diabetes. Details of the research were presented at the 79th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Pharmacological Society, held from March 8-10.
