Asahi Kasei Medical to Reinforce Its Hemodialyzer Assembly Plant in China.


Tokyo, Japan, Apr 27, 2006 - (JCN) - Asahi Kasei Medical announced on April 26 that it has decided to expand its assembly plant for polysulfone hollow-fiber hemodialyzers hemodialyzer /he·mo·di·a·lyz·er/ (-di´ah-liz?er) an apparatus for performing hemodialysis.

The company plans to invest 2 billion yen ($17.0 mil) to construct a new assembly line assembly line, manufacturing technique in which a product is carried by some form of mechanized conveyor among stations at which the various operations necessary to its assembly are performed. It is used to assemble quickly large numbers of a uniform product. Henry Ford is often credited with establishing the first assembly line for his Model T. So long as an assembly line's output is high, the cost per unit is relatively low., which will have an annual output capacity of 3.6 million units, by May 2007.

With this move, Asahi Kasei Medical can produce 20 million units annually.
