(BMS BMS abbr. Bachelor of Marine Science ) to serve as a regional headquarters for Asahi Kasei Group operations in China. BMS will begin operation on April 1, 2007, incorporated under Shanghai municipal regulatory provisions which enable a foreign-owned regional headquarters to perform business management operations without first functioning as a holding company for investments in China. Ten Asahi Kasei Group companies are located in China, with operations largely centered on manufacturing for export. Growth of operations in China are a key element in Asahi Kasei's Growth Action - 2010 initiative for strategic global expansion, and BMS is intended to play a vital role in facilitating this growth.
