Asaad takes on Sultan in final.

 Asaad Al Raisi will take on Sultan Al Riyami, both of Seeb Club in the final of the Omani men's singles on the final day of the New India Assurance New India Assurance is currently the largest Non-Life Insurance Company in India. It is one of the five Public Sector insurance companies in India with its headquarters in Mumbai.

Previously it was a subsidiary of the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC).
 Open Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Indian Social Club Muscat.

Dr J. Retnakumar, resident manager-Oman operations of The New India Assurance Company, will preside over the final.

Three finals, starting at 7.30pm will bring the curtains down on the 13-day long tournament which included 10 events. The interest and enthusiasm that this premier table tennis tournament has created can be gauged from the fact that players not only from the capital area and Seeb, but from as far as Al Rustaq and Sohar turned up for their matches. Also to be played this evening will be an interesting duel between young talent in the form of 15-year-old Ajit Rao and his 11-year-old sister Jyothsna who will take on the experienced pair of Suhail Khan and Srinidhi Murali in the mixed doubles mixed doubles

The last final will be the men's singles final between the winners of the semifinals which were scheduled to be played when the report went to press. Second seed Dr Chandrashekar Nooyi was scheduled to take on No. 8 seed Anil Kumar and in the other, fifth seed Nitin Vaidya vaidya /vai·dya/ (vi´dyah) [Sanskrit "one who knows"] in ayurveda, a physician.  was to take on sixth seed Omani left-hander Asaad Al Raisi.

Meanwhile, women's top seed and defending champion Srinidhi Murali was to take on second seed Swathi Jayaprakash in the women's singles final last evening.

In an all-Doctors final, third seed Dr Chandrashekar Nooyi will take on fourth seed Dr Atul Tamhane in the veterans' singles final.

Dr Nooyi advanced with an 11-9, 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 victory to upset second seed R. Subramanian and Dr Tamhane cruised into the final with a 11-5, 11-3, 11-6, 11-5 win over Elyas S. I. who had driven down all the way from Sohar.
