As the long awaited sequel Spiderman 2 swings into theaters today (June 30) LZA Technology, a division of The Thornton-Tomasetti Group, provided structural engineering services for the installation of giant Spidey inflatables at the Sony Building at 550 Madison Avenue and the NYU Dormitory at 1 Union Square West.

The Sony Building, designed by Japanese architect Yoshinobu Ashihara and opened in 1966 in Tokyo's Ginza ward, Chūō-ku; is a superb example of early

 Dormitory at 1 Union Square West. At the Sony Building, LZA Technology designed special attachment methods for the temporary 60-by-30-ft cold air inflatable Spiderman. For the installation in Union Square, LZA Technology had to develop a method of attaching Spiderman that was secure under wind loads, was fast to install, did not damage the building and that was removable after his departure.
