As Part of Strategic Growth Plan, IEC Electronics Appoints Larry J. Gossen to Head Subsidiary.

NEWARK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 1997--IEC Electronics Corp. (NASDAQ: IECE) today announced that Larry J. Gossen has been appointed vice president and general manager of the company's 87,000 square foot facility in Edinburg, Texas.

Gossen brings to IEC more than 25 years' experience in developing production, materials, purchasing, distribution and facilities functions in the computer and aerospace industries. He most recently worked at Datapoint Corp., in San Antonio, Texas, in several positions including senior director of Manufacturing Operations, director of Sheet Metal Operations, director of Productions and senior manager of Materials Operations. During this time Gossen successfully directed strategic and functional operations for remote Electronics Manufacturing Operations and a separate Sheet Metal Facility.

Gossen previously served as manager of Industrial Engineering at Pertec Computer Corp., in Chatsworth, California. He began his career as an industrial engineer at General Dynamics Electronics Division in 1971. Before that time, Gossen served as a First Lieutenant, Infantry, United States Army from 1969 to 1971. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from McNeese State University in May 1969.

Over the years, Gossen has received special industry training and certification from institutions such as the American Management Association, The Ammerman Experience, Philip Cosby Associates, Richard Muther & Associates, the Value Management Institute, the Science Management Corp. and the United States Army.

Gossen brings to IEC three decades of experience with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), which are the types of companies IEC calls customers. Gossen's appointment is part of the strategic strengthening and restructuring of top management positions IEC. In May 1997, Henry Stammler as appointed vice president and general manager of the company's Arab, Alabama subsidiary. Recently the position of chief operating officer at IEC was created for David Fradin, who also heads up the company as president. Bill Anderson, formerly IEC's vice president of Materials, has been promoted to executive vice president and general manager of the Newark, New York operation.

Russell Stingel, formerly president and chief executive officer, will continue to lead the company as CEO and chairman of the board of directors.
