SCO Group's billion-dollar lawsuit against IBM has made many CIOs nervous. If the court upholds SCO's claim that IBM misappropriated its Unix trade secrets and built them into Linux, every Linux server now in production could require fixes. Should this occur, Linux systems administrators would need to find all code the court decided was SCO property and replace it with non-infringing, community-developed code.
