AIG American General's Saves for Children Program began after the All-Star break in 2005 and raised $11,000 for CHILDREN AT RISK. In 2006, the program raised $20,000 for the nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life of Greater Houston's children through strategic research, public policy analysis, education, collaboration and advocacy. CHILDREN AT RISK is the only nonprofit organization that tracks demographics, poverty, economic security, as well as current local and state issues affecting our children through its publication "Growing Up in Houston," and proactively drives change for children by educating Legislators on the importance of improving each of the key indicators.

 Major League Baseball rules, a pitcher is credited with a save when he meets all three of the following criteria:
1. He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and

2. He is not the winning pitcher; and

3. He qualifies under one of the following conditions:

    a. He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and
       pitches for at least one inning; or
    b. He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential
       tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the
       potential tying run is either on base or is one of the first
       two batsmen he faces); or
    c. He pitches effectively for at least three innings.

No more than one save may be credited in each game.
