Artists from Central and Eastern Europe The term "Central and Eastern Europe" came into wide spread use, replacing "Eastern bloc", to describe former Communist countries in Europe, after the collapse of the Iron Curtain in 1989/90. have been awarded residencies in various U.S. arts organizations to work in their respective arts disciplines while working in their host communities, sharing their knowledge through workshops and creating new works reflecting their experience during the residency in the U.S. Over $77,000 has been awarded in this round of residencies to the following Fellows and host arts organizations: Zeljko Blace (Croatia, Arts Manager), Galina Dimitrova (Bulgaria, Arts Manager), Sasa Glavan (Slovenia, Arts Manager), Viera Jancekova-Kuracinova (Slovak Republic, Arts Manager), David Kareyan (Armenia, Artist), Daniela Kostova (Bulgaria, Artist), Solvita Krese (Latvia, Arts Manager), Pawel Kruk (Poland, Artist), Dalia Lauckaite-Jakimaviciene (Lithuania, Artist), Jelena Peric (Croatia, Artist), Renata Poljak (Croatia, Artist), Vitali Pouchnitski (Russia, Artist), Biljana Tanurovska (Macedonia, Arts Manager), Janka Vukmir (Croatia, Arts Manger).
