Arts management for dancers.


Schools that offer courses or concentrations in both dance and arts management prepare dancers for the offstage side of the business-directing a company, operating a studio, Or running a dance festival. An example is The Ann Lacy School of American Dance and Arts Management at Oklahoma City University Oklahoma City University is an urban private university located in Oklahoma City, in the Midtown District. The university is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and offers a wide variety of degrees in the liberal arts and sciences disciplines. , currently with 72 dance management majors. According to the school's dean, John Bedford, student goals range widely, from those who want to have a dance career but enroll for business courses to better look after their interests, to those who would rather manage a dance company than perform. Alumni include: Seth Reimer, former company manager for Parsons Dance and operations manager for Carnegie Hall; Katy McDermott, managerial associate in the dance division of IMG IMG International medical graduate, see there  Artists; and Heather Fick, company manager for Tulsa Ballet.
