Arts and crafts at mill.ART and craft sessions for adults are to be held each week at Bates Bates , Katherine Lee 1859-1929. American educator and writer best known for her poem "America the Beautiful," written in 1893 and revised in 1904 and 1911. Mill in Huddersfield Huddersfield, city (1991 pop. 147,825), Kirklees metropolitan district, N central England, on the Colne River. Its textile industry, including cotton, woolen, and rayon goods, is important. Other products are machinery, iron goods, chemicals, and dyed fabrics. . Kirklees Council Culture and Leisure Services is hosting the weekly sessions at the mill on Queen Street South from January 6 to February 10. A different activity will be on offer each week and the sessions are designed to suit beginners or experienced crafters. On January 6, the group will learn glass painting. On January 13, it will be a tie-dyeing class, followed by fabric painting on January 20. On January 27, there will be an embroidery embroidery, ornamental needlework applied to all varieties of fabrics and worked with many sorts of thread—linen, cotton, wool, silk, gold, and even hair. Decorative objects, such as shells, feathers, beads, and jewels, are often sewn to the embroidered piece. workshop and February 3 will be all about decoupage. The final event on February 10 will involve making scraffito cards. The craft sessions are held on Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 9pm and cost pounds 2, with materials and a drink included.
