Arts Council Unveils First Statewide Web Portal for the Arts; CultureVista to Provide Resources for Arts & Culture.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2001

The California Arts Council The California Arts Council is a state agency governed by an 11-member council appointed by the Governor and the state Legislature to advance the state through the arts and creativity, with an emphasis on children and under-served communities.  (CAC See Consumer Advisory Council. ) and California Culture Net announced today the launch of California's first online "TV Guide" for arts events and cultural resources in every county in the state.

The Web site, www.culturevista.org, currently provides 2,200 links to Web addresses for arts organizations throughout California and plans to expand to 3,000 art and cultural resources by June 2001.

The launch of CultureVista is part of the Arts Council's Year of the Arts 2001, an education campaign to increase awareness of, and support for, the positive economic, educational and civic impact of the arts in California.

As a component of Year of the Arts 2001, each month CultureVista will showcase different artists and organizations for the campaign's designated monthly themes.
