Artists embrace creative recycling week; OUTDOORS.


ARTIST'S collective Red Dot are staging a recycling week in Liverpool for the second year running.

Following the success of last year - which included Urban Strawberry Lunch Urban Strawberry Lunch (USL) are a Liverpool, England, based group who make music on everyday objects. Formed by Benjamin F Tin and Ambrose Reynolds in 1987, USL began making their own musical instruments after a fire destroyed all of their (uninsured) musical instruments.  running a recycled musical instrument making workshop at St Luke's St Luke's is an area in the London Borough of Islington in Greater London, close to the borders with the London Borough of Hackney and the City of London, near the Barbican and Shoreditch. The closest tube station is Old Street.  Church, Red Dot are again running a series of free events.

"The aim of the recycling week is to raise awareness of how recycling helps to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage individuals to recycle more and recycle better," says project organiser Colin Serjent.

The events will include a field trip to Bidston Materials Recovery Facility A materials recovery facility or materials reclamation facility (MRF -- pronounced "murf") is a specialized plant that receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end-user manufacturers.  on Wednesday August 12 (12-30pm to 2-30pm) - free transport will be provided from Liverpool city centre, a poetry, music and film night at the Liverpool Everyman Third Room on the same day (8-11pm). A debate will also be held in the Third Room on Thursday August 13 (8-10pm) and the final event of the week will be a recycling swap shop on Saturday August 15 (12pm 5pm)at the International Gallery in Slater Street.
