 - The work of iconographer Ian Ambrose is being featured this week at Dar Annadwa, the Cultural Center in Bethlehem's Old City. The opening begins at 5 pm Thursday at Dar Annadwa's Al Khouf Gallery.Ambrose is a British expatriate who has been living and working in the Middle East for several years.A former Anglican priest who converted to Latin Catholicism, Ambrose now expresses his Christian faith, say supporters, through iconography. The Latin Rite is one of the 23 sui iuris
 Catholic and Melkite communities in Palestine, Jordan and Egypt. His local work includes the interior dome of St. Nicholas Church in Beit Jala Beit Jala (Arabic:  , possibly from Aramaic 'grass carpet') is a small city in the Bethlehem Governorate of the West Bank. . This exhibit will feature some of his most recent iconographic work; not the standard souvenirs that are put out by the tourist trade, but ones that explore iconography within the life of Palestine today, especially during this era of occupation. Ambrose is considered one of the most advanced iconographers from Western Europe, and says that he sees his work as a means to bring people of different religious faiths together to understand Christianity through the icon, as opposed to believing that icons are exclusively for worship in the Eastern Christian tradition.
