An exhibition of North East landscapes goes on display at a stately home stately home

American-born artist Tim Wells moved to Northumberland in 1985, fell in love with the county and turned his attention from marine painting to landscapes.

The current exhibition at Wallington House shows a variety of styles in Wells' work, from sketch-book drawings to finished paintings.

 paintings of the Clock Tower, Courtyard and the house, and large oil paintings of Paines Bridge, and Wallington in the snow.

Lloyd Langley, house and collections manager at Wallington, said: "Wells spent a lot of time at Wallington, producing some lovely paintings. It is very appropriate that his images should be exhibited for the enjoyment of our visitors."

Wells was a familiar figure in the gardens at Wallington and was often found working with the gardeners to help maintain the famous Walled Garden Refers to a network or service that restricts its users to its own content. Cable TV and satellite TV are walled gardens, offering a finite number of channels and programs to its subscribers. . The artist painted in the garden throughout the year and, as such, his paintings give a true representation of the changes the house sees through the seasons.

The exhibition is in the house itself and costs pounds 7.30 per adult and 65p for children. The house is closed on Tuesdays.
