Artisan Small Cap Value Fund Closes To New Investors -- Names Kieffer Portfolio Co-Manager.

MILWAUKEE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 30, 2000

Artisan Funds announced today that the Artisan Small Cap Value Fund is closed to new investors after reaching its pre-announced closing level of $250 million in assets under management Assets Under Management (AUM) is a term used by financial services companies in the mutual fund and money management or investment management business to gauge how much money they are managing. . Existing Fund shareholders may continue to purchase shares as well as reinvest dividends and capital gains distributions.

James C. Kieffer, CFA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986) Signed into law in 1986, the CFA was a significant step forward in criminalizing unauthorized access to computer systems and networks. The Act applies to "federal interest computers" that include any system used by the U.S. , has been named portfolio co-manager of the Artisan Small Cap Value Fund as of July 1, 2000. He joins Scott C. Satterwhite, who has been portfolio manager of the Fund since it began. Mr. Kieffer is a Managing Director of Artisan Partners Limited Partnership, the Fund's investment adviser, having served as a research analyst on Artisan Partners' management team for the Fund since its launch. Prior to joining Artisan Partners in 1997, Mr. Kieffer worked for McColl Partners McColl Partners, LLC is an investment bank that provides services to middle-market companies and financial institutions. McColl Partners advises clients in three primary areas: Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Private Capital Raises, and Strategic Advisory and Valuation Assignments.  and Wachovia Corporation. Mr. Kieffer holds a BA degree in Economics from Emory University Emory University (ĕm`ərē), near Atlanta, Ga.; coeducational; United Methodist; chartered as Emory College 1836, opened 1837 at Oxford. It became Emory Univ. in 1915 and in 1919 moved to Atlanta. .
