Artisan Libraries Selected For Worldwide Support of Foundry Processes by Motorola.

Agreement Provides Library Products For TSMC 0.18- and

0.25-Micron Process Technologies

Artisan Components, Inc. (Nasdaq:ARTI) today announced that Motorola, Inc., has chosen Artisan Components' library products for selected designs that will be manufactured at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC). The license agreement covers Motorola divisions and design groups on a worldwide basis. The Artisan libraries were selected based on the results of a comprehensive benchmarking and business analysis conducted by Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector (SPS). Currently nine distribution centers in five countries have been established and more than 20 design groups are using Artisan's suite of memory generators, standard cell and I/O cell libraries for TSMC's 0.18- and 0.25-micron process technologies.

Driving this agreement is Motorola's February 1999 announcement to outsource some manufacturing to TSMC as part of its strategy to focus on differentiated technology designs while gaining manufacturing flexibility.
