Artisan Components' Libraries Tapped by Centillium Communications For High-Speed Voice over Packet and Digital Subscriber Line Processors.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 5, 2002

Artisan Components, Inc. (Nasdaq:ARTI), a leading provider of semiconductor intellectual property (IP), and Centillium Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTLM CTLM Imaging Computed tomography laser mammography A diagnostic technique using lasers to produce a 3-D cross-sectional image of the breast without x-rays. See Mammography. ), innovator of broadband communications technology, today announced that Artisan's industry-standard library products were used in Centillium's Entropia(TM) and CopperFlite(TM) families of products. Centillium's design challenge was to develop high-density products utilizing TSMC's 0.18-micron low-voltage process. Artisan fulfilled Centillium's requirements by providing its TSMC TSMC Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, Ltd

process-optimized memory generators and SAGE-X Standard Cell Library. With Artisan's libraries integrated into Centillium's Entropia and CopperFlite products, Centillium can provide innovative products optimized for speed and density to its customers.

"Artisan's business model effectively offered a low barrier to entry for our new products," said Roy Batruni, vice president of engineering, Access Business Unit, Centillium Communications. "With Artisan's alignment with TSMC and its free access of libraries for licensed customers, Centillium was able to concentrate on reaching key benchmarks without the worry of up-front costs."

Artisan provided Centillium with early access to its new technologies, allowing Centillium ample time to design its next generation ADSL See DSL.

and VoP products. Additionally, Artisan's excellent customer service combined with early access to its products allowed Centillium an early time-to-market.

"Centillium's market-leading Entropia VoP family of products enable manufacturers to transmit voice over data networks and the company's CopperFlite technologies allow use of pre-existing copper telephone lines to transmit and receive data of up to 100 times faster than today's fastest analog modems," said Neal Carney, vice president of marketing at Artisan Components. "Artisan's quality memory and standard cell library products are well suited to meet customers' requirements for speed, density and high-manufacturing yield."
