 Arthur R. "Art" D'Amato, 83, of Harrington Lane, died Monday, April 16th in his home after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 55 years, Lorraine G. (Dupuis) D'Amato; his four sons, Richard A. D'Amato and his wife Donna of Spencer, Dennis G. D'Amato of Spencer and his fiancee, Nancy, Glenn P. D'Amato and his wife Kimberly of East Brookfield, and Donald E. D'Amato and his wife Susan of Spencer; his two brothers, Albert D'Amato and his wife Beatrice of Spencer and Henry D'Amato of Shrewsbury; his two sisters, Majorie Yovanovich and her husband Michael of Waterloo, Ontario Coordinates:

Waterloo is a city in Ontario, Canada. It is the smallest of the three cities in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, and is adjacent to the larger city of Kitchener.
 and Patricia Aresnault of Grafton; as well as his six grandchildren, Eric, Lisa, Laureen, Jessica, Matt and Tony; and many neices and nephews.

He was born in Worcester, son of the late Palmerino and Assunta (Corazzini) D'Amato and grew up in Shrewsbury. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School There are several schools named Shrewsbury High School

 where he lettered in varsity football. He later served as a youth football and hockey corach and manager. He was a veteran of the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. Mr. D'Amato worked at the former First National grocery stores in Worcester as a Produce Manager for several years before beginning his career, and serving many years, as an Insurance Underwriter for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.; retiring in 1979. During his tenure at Metropolitan Life, Arthur attended a variety of business and insurance courses at Clark University Clark University, at Worcester, Mass.; coeducational; chartered 1887, opened as a graduate school 1889. It was the second graduate school to be formed in the United States. Its undergraduate college (est. 1902) was integrated with the university in 1920.  in Worcester.

Art also served in East Brookfield town government as a tax assessor. He chaired the East Brookfield Democratic Town Committee for many years. He was a former member of the Lions Club, a member of the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris.  Auburn. He was a member and communicant at Saint John the Baptist Church. Art also enjoyed fishing and coin collecting. He was an avid baseball fan. Arthur's favorite pastime was enjoying his role as "dad" and "grampy".

Funeral services for Arthur will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 19 with a Mass in Saint John the Baptist Church, 121 Blaine Ave., East Brookfield. Burial will follow in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, in the J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, Spencer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Saint John the Baptist Church, 121 Blaine Ave., East Brookfield.
