Expand VoIP Offerings from Artesyn Communication Products

Artesyn Technologies (Nasdaq:ATSN) announced that it has acquired privately held Real Time Digital, Inc., a world-class developer of Digital Signal Processor (DSP) software and high-density DSP board-level products for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market.

With the acquisition, Artesyn's Communication Products Division will expand its voice over packet product offerings to include bundled WAN I/O-DSP solutions for voice over IP (VoIP) gateways, media gateways and media servers. According to various industry studies, the market for end equipment sales for voice over packet gateways is currently estimated at $1.9 billion and expected to grow to $16 billion by 2004. Voice and media gateways are the equipment that manages information from the circuit-based public telephone network (both wireless and wireline) into the packet-based Internet.

Real-Time Digital, founded in 1996 and located in Wall, N.J., provides high-performance media server and access subsystems for the IP-telephony market. Real-Time Digital specializes in custom solutions for the telecom industry. Its technology expertise includes solutions for VoIP, CTI PBX, voice messaging and network tone processing.
