ArtServe Michigan Media Advisory: Techno Music Legends Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson to Speak to and Perform for a Group of 700 Students.


ArtServe Michigan Michigan (mĭsh`ĭgən), upper midwestern state of the United States. It consists of two peninsulas thrusting into the Great Lakes and has borders with Ohio and Indiana (S), Wisconsin (W), and the Canadian province of Ontario (N,E). :
WHO:    Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson, Techno Legends
        and Michigan natives, will speak to and perform for a group of
        700 vocal and instrumental music middle, high school and
        colleges students from across the state at the Third Annual
        ArtServe Michigan Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture Student
        Event.

WHAT:   Atkins, May and Saunderson will be in Detroit to receive the
        International Achievement Award at the 19th Annual ArtServe
        Michigan Governor's Awards for Arts & Culture on Thursday,
        November 18, 2004. The International Achievement Award
        presented by ArtServe Michigan is given to a Michiganian who
        has achieved international prominence in the arts.

        The Third Annual ArtServe Michigan Governor's Awards for Arts
        and Culture is sponsored by the DaimlerChrysler Corporation
        Fund.

WHEN:   The Student Event "Performance and Talkback" begins at
        10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2004

        THE PRESS IS INVITED TO ATTEND; THERE WILL BE PHOTO
        OPPORTUNITIES OF ATKINS, MAY AND SAUNDERSON INTERACTING WITH
        STUDENTS. ATKINS, MAY AND SAUNDERSON WILL ANSWER A FEW
        QUESTIONS AFTER THE STUDENT SESSION.

WHERE:  -- The Student Event held at the Detroit Opera House,
        1526 Broadway, Detroit. Use the Madison Avenue entrance for
        easiest access to the performance.

        -- Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the
        Henry Ford, 20900 Oakwood Avenue at Greenfield one
        quarter-mile east of the Southfield Freeway; Awards Ceremony
