Art tour starts at Scan/Design.


Byline: The Register-Guard

The First Friday First Friday is a city-wide public event that occurs on the first Friday of every month. The events may take on many purposes, including art gallery openings and social networking.  Art Walk for May will take in ceramics by members of a group called Local Clay at Scan/Design and the opening of a new show called "Prints, Paintings and Porcelain Vessels" at the Jacobs Gallery.

The free, guided walking tour of downtown art spaces, which features receptions with the artists at most galleries, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Scan/Design, 856 Willamette St. That's where Local Clay members Joe Davis, Hank Murrow, Thomas Rohr, Dan Schmitt and Kathryn Finnerty will show their work.

Also at Scan/Design will be photographs by Adrienne Adam and a woodworking demonstration by Ben Ferrell of the Thomas Chippendale School of Furniture.

From there, the tour will head off to Criterion Gallery Criterion Gallery is a commercial gallery with a focus on contemporary art from the Asia-Pacific region. Located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia the gallery draws on the rich knowledge base and experiences of practicing artists living in Tasmania, many being staff members of the , 35 W. Eighth Ave., for an exhibit of mixed-media work by Jean Davis.

The third stop will be the Jacobs Gallery, downstairs at the Hult Center, Seventh and Willamette streets. It will be the opening reception of a show by Eugene artists Megan O'Connell, Rebecca Urlacher and Libby Wadsworth.

The final stop will be Vivace Gallery, 207 E. Fifth Ave., which has "Vivacious Gardens," a show of outdoor art by Linda Young, Jim Robinson Jim Robinson may refer to the following people:

The host for this month's tour will be Bonnie Pasquarelli, youth arts coordinator for the Lane Arts Council An arts council is a government or private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts mainly by funding local artists, awarding prizes, and organizing events at home and abroad. . The tour spends about 15 minutes at each stop.
