Animal sculptor Brendan Hesmondhalgh wowed the crowd with his live clay demonstration of how to make a dog's head and visitors enjoyed the new cafe from Leeds-based Marvellous Tea Dance Company.

"It's gone really well," said Victoria. "There's been a lot of people, it's been really busy.

"It's fantastic - the standard of work is getting higher and higher and people are starting to know about it from further away."

Competition to be selected for the art fair is fierce and Victoria said some artists had to be turned away.

She added: "Fifty is the most we've ever had in one single day.

"Last year we had eighty over two days but we couldn't get another Sunday here. But it's a fantastic venue, it's a great space."

The next Holmfirth Arts Market is on June 13/14 as part of Holmfirth Arts Week.
