Art passports.


The focus of my art classes is "global perspectives." We take a trip around the world. To travel from country to country, everyone needs a passport passport

Document issued by a national government identifying a traveler as a citizen with a right to protection while abroad and a right to return to the country of citizenship. It is normally a small booklet containing a description and photograph of the bearer.

 a simple booklet that has triple duty. It can be used as a form of motivation, a journal, and an assessment tool.

I use a publishing program on the computer to make the passports The following is a list of passports: By country and territory
  • Australian passport
  • Austrian passport
  • Argentine passport
  • Armenian passport
  • Belarusian passport
  • Belgian passport
  • Belizean Passport
  • Brazilian passport
  • British passport
, but they can also be made by hand. Each passport has a decorative cover and several pages inside--one for each destination. Each page has a place for the name of the country, the type of artwork found in that country, notes of interest, and a spot to be stamped. You can also make, or have your students make, a slipcover or envelope to keep each passport safe.

When we begin a new unit, we look at a map to find the next country or area. Students discuss what countries are near the place we just finished studying, and try to find out which country we will visit next.

When we finish each unit about the art of a particular area or country, students show me all of the completed requirements, and I stamp the page for that country in their passports.
