Saccardi uses her own experiences as a former elementary school and college teacher to demonstrate how to use stories to teach art history to elementary school children, from art of the ancient world to the twenty-first century. Each chapter has background on the period or artist, a story, activities such as journal writing, suggestions for integration with other areas of curriculum, and resource lists for child to adult levels. The art of predynastic Egypt (c.4000–3200 B.C.
