CREATIVE students are helping to bring tourists to the region.

Year Nine students from Marden High School Marden High School is a High School in Cullercoats, Tyne and Wear. It has been a Designated Media Arts College since 2003 and the Marden City Learning Centre has been situated on the grounds in front of the School since it was opened on 15 July, 2003. , North Shields Coordinates:

North Shields (or locally just Shields) is a town on the north bank of the River Tyne, in the metropolitan borough of North Tyneside, in North East England. It is located eight miles (13 km) east of Newcastle upon Tyne.
, took part in the Cullercoats Cultural Challenge, in which they were asked to come up with ideas on promoting Cullercoats as an artists' colony. The area has links with several artists including Winslow Homer and John Surtees.

Now the children's ideas are set to be taken forward and used by an arts steering group. They included a festival, a statue of Homer and using picture frames to show panoramic views as seen by the artists.

Coun Norma Redfearn said: "I'm delighted our young people are helping us make the most of the borough's assets."
