Arson attack.


A EMPTY flat was targeted in an arson arson, at common law, the malicious and willful burning of the house of another. Originally, it was an offense against the security of habitation rather than against property rights.  attack.

The blaze broke out in the upstairs flat of the twostorey building on Ethel Street, in Benwell, Newcastle, at around 6.30pm, after yobs set fire to clothes left behind by previous tenants.

Crews from Colby Court, Newcastle, battled the flames which were coming through the roof, for more than an hour.

The flats surrounding the fire were empty at the time.

Police officers and the arson task force are still investigating the cause of the fire, which is suspected to have been started maliciously ma·li·cious
