Arson at rugby club.


Police are hunting arsonists who attacked a rugby club's 70-year-old stand in Gosforth.

Three youngsters were seen near Northern Rugby Club, Great North Road, before it went up in flames at 2am on Sunday. Firelighters were found at the stand. Ex-prisoner aid

A SCHEME to help ex-offenders will be piloted in the North-East.

Northern Rock Foundation is investing pounds 4.2m over three years to tackle the problem of former prisoners re-convicted. Durham Prison and Holme House Prison, Stockton, are involved.

Gun incident

THREE Doncaster men were charged yesterday after reports of gunshots west of West Auckland For the western section of Auckland, New Zealand, see Waitakere. Also, the parish now known as Etherley was once called West Auckland.
