Arsenal of skills.

The Royal Marine Reserves can trace their roots back to the Royal Marines Forces Volunteer Reserve (RMFVR RMFVR Royal Marine Forces Volunteer Reserve (UK) ) formed in the City of London under the Royal Marines Act 1948.

The RMFVR were officially formed on November 5, 1948 at a ceremonial parade on Bunhill Fields, the same place the Royal Marines were formed on October 28, 1664.

RMR Tyne began as the Tyne Centre RMFVR in 1954, formed aboard HMS Satellite, RNVR RNVR Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve , at Newcastle upon Tyne Newcastle upon Tyne, city (1991 pop. 199,064) and metropolitan district, NE England, on the Tyne River. The city is an important shipping and trade center. The famous coal-shipping industry began in the 13th cent. .

Initially reservists were former hostilities only (HO) personnel. They were mainly Royal Marines who had gained experience in the Second World War and trained in order to support the regulars against the threat from the Soviet Bloc.

Today the majority of reservists have no previous military experience and their transition from civilian to marine is more challenging.

Current threats means the training is even more comprehensive to equip the modern marine with an arsenal of skills to face any situation.

The RMR have adapted to these changes and remains flexible, continuing to train in order to support properly the regulars whom Sir Winston Churchill once described as: "The finest in the world."
