Before being elevated to CIO in 2003, Suzanne Gordon served as vice president of the SAS Information Systems Division (ISD See IDD. ), director of National Technical Consulting and acting vice president within the SAS Professional Services Division, where she directed the consulting, strategic support and partnering activities of nearly 300 employees. Before joining the professional services organization, Gordon headed the management information services department The Information Services Department (ISD) (Traditional Chinese: 政府新聞處; Simplified Chinese: 政府新闻处  in ISD. She joined SAS in 1980.

In 2003, Ms. Gordon was both named a Premier 100 IT Leader by Computerworld and recognized by Triangle Business Journal as one of the region's top 25 women in business.
