This agreement brings together two Arrow divisions, Arrow OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  Computing Solutions (OCS OCS - Object Compatibility Standard ) and the Arrow/Bell Components Group, in a joint program for AMX that includes material procurement, inventory management and distribution services.

Beyond its exclusive nature, the relationship between Arrow and AMX is a joint effort between Arrow Bell and OCS, the division of Arrow that provides integration, manufacturing and supply chain management services to industrial OEMs and intellectual property-based companies, to present a unified organization for displays and semiconductor needs on a global basis.

"The agreement is a great example of how two sides of the Arrow organization -- OCS and Arrow Bell -- can work together to understand a customer's needs and present a comprehensive solution," said Steve Ramsland, vice president and general manager, OEM Computing Solutions, Arrow Electronics.

"AMX has a clear vision for speed, agility, reliability, and life-cycle cost management in its supply chain model," said Paul Katz Paul Katz is an American cellist. Specific aspects of the arrangement between AMX and Arrow that make the relationship work well for AMX, its manufacturing partners and for Arrow include:

-- Arrow participation during the design and prototype phase at

AMX

-- Renewed dialogue between AMX and local U.S.-based component

and display manufacturers, which is important to AMX's

research and design process

-- Fast ramp-ups on new product line production needs

-- One-stop shopping, even on non-franchised products Arrow

acquires on AMX's behalf

-- Pre-negotiated, set pricing regardless of volume or geographic

locale of the manufacturing company.

-- Access to Arrow's supply chain IT systems

-- Standardized purchasing process across Arrow's divisions and

across continental divides

-- Allocation protection and early notification on end-of-life

products

-- An on-site Arrow project manager and team to assist AMX with

its ongoing procurement and material management needs

Arrow was one of several distributors AMX considered when it began searching for a way to improve its supply chain processes. Arrow was chosen by AMX because it had the majority of AMX's needed components and display products already in its supplier portfolio, and was able to acquire and negotiate suitable pricing on components from outside suppliers.

"AMX needed one global partner who was able to bring immediate value to the material supply equation and was willing to develop new ways of doing business. We chose Arrow because they offered the best solutions to meet these needs," said Carl Evans, vice president of operations for AMX.
