Arrow Electronics Named One of America's Most Admired Companies for Third Year in a Row.

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 29, 1999--For the third year in a row, Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: ARW) has been named one of America's most admired companies by Fortune magazine. The world's largest distributor of electronic components and computer products, Arrow has more than 9,400 employees worldwide.

"Arrow is thrilled to be on Fortune's list of most admired American companies for the third year in a row," said Steve Kaufman, Arrow's Chairman and CEO. "I'm proud that our performance and reputation in the industry has kept us on this list that truly reflects the solid efforts and dedication put forth by our talented employees."

While in the past winners were ranked across all industries, from number one to 469, this year the survey again divided the companies into distinct industry groups ranging from Aerospace to Temporary Help. More than 10,000 senior executives, directors and securities analysts were asked to rate the top 10 companies they admired most, regardless of industry. They were then asked to rank companies in their own industry on eight criteria, such as quality of products and services, innovativeness, financial soundness, and social responsibility. In the ratings, the company's performance earned Arrow an impressive sixth place in the wholesalers category, down one spot from its fifth place position last year.

Arrow Electronics is the world's largest distributor of electronic components and computer products, with 1998 sales of $8.3 billion. Headquartered in Melville, New York, Arrow serves as a supply channel partner for more than 600 suppliers and 175,000 original equipment manufacturers and commercial customers through more than 200 sales facilities and 27 distribution centers in 34 countries. Detailed information about Arrow's operations can be found at www.arrow.com.
