Arrhythmia,Causes and Treatments

The pacemaker of the heart is called sinoatrial node. Normal cardiac stimulus starts from the right atrium (the right upper chamber of the heart) and travels through the atria and down to the ventricles (the lower chambers of the heart). The fast movement of the heartbeat is called Sinus tachycardia.

So if you ask. ''What is sinus arrhythmia?'' then there are other things too associated with it. However, a sinus arrhythmia certainly does not mean that an individual is suffering from an unwarranted disease, especially no heart disease as such. Many arrhythmias, particularly arrhythmia is found to take place in people who do not have the least symptom or inkling of any heart disease. In most of the cases, even if an arrhythmia is found to exist alongside a heart disease, it is in all likely possibility that the patient will likely die of the heart disease than of the arrhythmia, particularly sinus arrhythmia.

It is due to exercise, excitement, pain, exertion or over secretion of the thyroid hormone. Usage of caffeine also stimulates fast heartbeat. So lack of normal sinus rhythm is called arrhythmia. In simple words it is abnormal heart rhythm.

Complaints such as lightheadedness, dizziness, quivering, shortness of breath, chest discomfort, heart fluttering or pounding, and forceful or painful extra beats are commonly reported with a variety of arrhythmias. Beats are generated by electrical impulses in the atria (top chambers of the heart) and are then conducted to the ventricles, where they produce the powerful muscle contraction that pumps blood. People may have allergies or idiosyncratic reactions to many other foods and beverages that cause transitory arrhythmias. Long-term nicotine exposure and any cocaine exposure can cause much more serious arrhythmias. Oxidative stress is a common feature of ischemic-reperfusion injuries, which occur when the heart is temporarily deprived of oxygenated blood (a state known as ischemia), followed by the reintroduction of oxygenated blood (reperfusion).

Causes

An arrhythmia is a change in the rhythm of your heartbeat. Most people have experienced these occasional, brief irregular heartbeats that feel like a skipped, fluttering or racing heartbeat. Cardiac dysrhythmia is technically more correct, as arrhythmia would imply that there is "no rhythm," but this term is not used frequently.

An arrhythmia can also mean that your heart beats irregularly (skips a beat or has an extra beat) However, some heart arrhythmias may cause bothersome sometimes even life-threatening signs and symptoms. These occasional changes can be brought on by strong emotions or exercise. They usually are not a cause for alarm. Arrhythmias that occur more often or cause symptoms (see the box below) may be more serious and need to be discussed with your doctor.

The common Causes of Arrhythmias :

It can be caused by heart disease or high blood pressure .

Stress, caffeine, smoking, alcohol, pregnancy, and some medications can also cause an arrhythmia.

The arrhythmia may be caused by a congenital heart defect (a heart problem from birth).

Symptoms of Arrhythmias

Some Symptoms of Arrhythmias :

Shortness of breath

Sweating

Heart murmur

Chest pain

Fainting Skipping beats

Skipping beats - changes in the pattern of the pulse

Treatments

When the patient is experiencing a severe imbalance with vertigo or dizziness - this question may become the most important issue in the treatment. Based on the intensity it is possible to classify the diseases to two categories: Acute onset and Gradual onset. I did not use the term "Chronic onset" because the "Acute onset" may continue as "Chronic onset".

When the patient can tolerate the process of deep investigation of the precipitating factors of his vertigo or dizziness, the physician and the patient can isolate the relevant factors and regulate the medication that could cause it. In the next line we shall try to relate to more specific examples from the spectrum of treatments for Cardio-vascular diseases.

V-fib has dire consequences and is treated via emergency measures. Cardioversion using a defibrillator shocks the heart back into rhythm, as well as the administration of anti-arrhythmic medications given intravenously. All work together to get the heart back into normal sinus rhythm (NSR). In some cases, the doctor may employ a technique called carotid massage, which releases chemicals into the body that slow down the heart rate. Carotid massage is usually reserved for younger patients because of the risk of stroke in older patients. However, it has been used on older patients as necessary and depending on their present condition.

This treatment can be applied slowly and gradually. In low doses of the statins, the treatment is tolerated very well. When there is need to increase the dose to high levels, some patients will suffer from side effects, Vertigo, Dizziness or Tinnitus (sensation of noise in the ears or the head) may occur.
