Arrests in bid to clear town of drugs.

POLICE have arrested more people and seized thousands of pounds worth of cocaine in the latest raid made as part of an ongoing drugs campaign in Daventry.

A 21-year-old man, from the Southbrook estate in Daventry, was arrested on Wednesday for supplying heroin and later charged with drugs offences.

Two men were also arrested in Long Buckby on Friday by officers, who seized pounds 2,000 of cocaine.

The men were released on bail pending tests on the drugs.

Chief Inspector John Jones said: "We will continue to take the strongest possible action against people who are identified as possessing or supplying class A and B drugs."

The arrests follow on from an operation carried out in Daventry last week, when five people were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply heroin.

The five - a 40-year-old woman and three men aged 35, 30 and 41 from Daventry and a 32-year-old woman from Woodford Halse - appeared before Wellingborough magistrates on Saturday.

They were ordered to appear at Northampton Crown Court on May 21 and released on bail.
