Arrests at store.


Police in Newcastle made two arrests after launching an operation at the Co-op at Regent's Farm, Wansbeck Road, Gosforth, after the store reported a rise in shoplifters.

Working with the shop, officers set up an operation to keep watch, which led to one man being caught on camera taking a case of lager. He was later charged with theft. Another man was also arrested for a bail offence.

Delays warning

MAJOR repairs to a road bridge in Blaydon are likely to cause delays for motorists visiting the industrial estates either side of the A695 Chainbridge Road.

An inspection of the concrete bridge revealed faults which required repairs in its expansion joints. The bridge will be closed for repiars to all traffic on Monday, October 9, for about four weeks.
