BEIJING--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 30, 2001

ArrayComm, Inc., whose smart antenna Smart antenna (also known as adaptive array antennas, multiple antennas and recently MIMO) refers to a system of antenna arrays with smart signal processing algorithms that are used to identify spatial signal signature such as the direction of arrival (DOA) of the signal, and use  technology is already boosting the capacity and coverage of wireless networks throughout China, demonstrated its commitment to China with today's opening of offices in Beijing's central business district.

For the past year, the San Jose, Calif., company has worked with Kyocera Corp. to facilitate China Telecom's network deployments with Lucent China and ZTE ZTE Zalaegerszegi Torna Egylet (Hungarian sports club) . Both companies utilize Kyocera base stations ArrayComm's patented IntelliCell software technology, an embedded software solution that enhances the capacity, coverage and signal quality of any wireless air interface. The technology stands to play a key role in China's rapid wireless build-out.

"China is hungry for wireless -- that's clear from the rapid deployments and subscriber uptake we've seen so far," said ArrayComm Executive Vice President Sam Endy, who is in Beijing today for the office open house. "With more than a billion people and total wireless penetration of only about 8 percent, China is one of the most exciting frontiers for wireless technology companies.

"And China won't just be playing catch-up. It's clear that the MII 1. (body) MII - A consortium of Microsoft, IBM, and Intel.

ArrayComm also is active within the TD-SCDMA Forum, working with companies such as Lucent, Siemens and Datang to optimize China's home-grown 3G wireless system for commercial deployment in the world's fastest-growing wireless market. China's Ministry of Information Industry reported in April that wireless penetration had increase 26 percent in the preceding 12 months, and China was expected to overtake the United States as the world's No. 1 wireless market by year's end.
