MILPITAS, Calif. -- Array Networks, a leading provider of optimized and secure universal access solutions, today announced its new DesktopDirect[TM] solution, which provides employees with a hardware accelerated anytime, anywhere secure remote access to their office desktops. Available on the Array SPX product line, DesktopDirect provides access to applications that typically reside only on the office computer, and is the ideal solution for day extenders who need remote access and/or business continuity planning. With a simple click, a user's remote PC or laptop becomes the terminal to their computer at the office - enabling seamless productivity.

DesktopDirect uses the newly developed Array Registration Technology[TM] (ART) to deliver an innovative browser-based, self-registration capability that reduces the administrative burden and makes it a simple and intuitive experience for the end user. It leverages existing applications and security infrastructure, eliminating the need to pay for duplicate licenses. Unlike managed service offerings, DesktopDirect only requires a modest one-time fee based on concurrent usage. Managed services require organizations to pay continuous monthly fees for all registered users. In contrast, DesktopDirect greatly reduces the time and money required to support remote access to corporate resources.

The remote desktop can be launched inside a secure virtual desktop to completely eliminate potential data leakage. Many managed service offerings leave organizations vulnerable to data leakage through permanent connections opened from the end user workstation to the provider's network, and proxied to the end user access device. With DesktopDirect, all data is encrypted over the Internet using SSL. For additional security, functions including save, print, and copy and paste may be enabled or disabled depending on the IT administrator's comfort level for a given user or environment.
