Array Networks Adds Dynamic Compression to Multi-Function Architecture.

Architecture and SpeedStack Network Processing Technology

Array Networks, The Web Traffic Company, announced that it has enhanced its Application Networking Architecture (ANA) with the addition of hardware-accelerated dynamic content compression. This real-time inline HTTP compression HTTP compression is a capability built into both web servers and web browsers, to make better use of available bandwidth. HTTP protocol data is compressed before it is sent from the server: compliant browsers will announce what methods are supported to the server before downloading , which yields up to 6x performance improvements, throughput of up to 400 Mbps and significant bandwidth savings in delivering Web services (1) Loosely, any online service delivered over the Web. Such usage appears in articles from non-technical sources, but not in IT-oriented publications, because definition #2 below describes the correct use of the term.  and other dynamic content, is available in the company's new Array TM series of multi-function Web traffic managers.

The new Array TM (Traffic Manager) is the first networking device to integrate dynamic content optimization, including compression and caching for dynamic objects, with accelerated encryption for up to 5,000 SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) The leading security protocol on the Internet. Developed by Netscape, SSL is widely used to do two things: to validate the identity of a Web site and to create an encrypted connection for sending credit card and other personal data.  transaction per second and high-performance connection processing for up to 50,000 HTTP HTTP

connections per second. The Array TM is able to sustain Gigabit wire speed throughput for both SSL and HTTP traffic.

Dynamic content compression becomes a core component of Array's multi-function Application Networking Architecture (ANA), a highly integrated, exceptionally scalable architecture for secure Web traffic management platforms that can direct, accelerate, secure and analyze all internal and external Web traffic. ANA-based platforms utilize Array's SpeedStack(TM) network processing technology to provide tightly coupled integration of IP services, Web security and network performance.

Array's ANA architecture is implemented in products, including the Array TM and Array SP, based on the company's new ArrayOS(TM) 5.0, which is designed so that Array platforms can serve as full proxies for all enterprise Web traffic. Array ANA-based platforms can be deployed as multi-function, integrated devices or as specialized appliances, equipped with services including Layer 4-7 server load balancing The fine tuning of a computer system, network or disk subsystem in order to more evenly distribute the data and/or processing across available resources. For example, in clustering, load balancing might distribute the incoming transactions evenly to all servers, or it might redirect them , SSL acceleration SSL acceleration is a method of offloading the processor-intensive public key encryption algorithms involved in SSL transactions to a hardware accelerator. "With SpeedStack, the user's intent is understood by each of the various services," said Lawrence Lu, Founder and CTO (Chief Technical Officer) The executive responsible for the technical direction of an organization. SpeedStack technology makes it possible to attach many individual applications - dynamic content compression, Layer 4 or Layer 7 server load balancing, reverse proxy caching, global server load balancing, and so on - while sustaining the highest performance due to virtually no repetition."

About Array Networks

Array Networks, the pioneer in directing, accelerating, securing and analyzing all internal and external Web traffic, develops the industry's first fully integrated Web traffic management and security platforms. Headquartered in Campbell, California with sales offices in the U.S., Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America, Array Networks engineers and manufactures its products in the Silicon Valley and sells through direct and value-added channels. Array Networks has raised $31.1 million in first-round funding, co-led by H&Q Asia Pacific and U.S. Venture Partners. Comdisco Ventures and individual investors also participated in the round.
