Array Microsystems Inc. today announced that it has signed ten leading resellers of videoconferencing and networked multimedia systems to market and distribute the new VideoONE(tm) Communicator(tm), the only hardware video accelerator A hardware component on a display adapter that speeds up full-motion video. The primary video accelerator functions are color space conversion, which converts YUV to RGB, hardware scaling, which is used to enlarge the image to full screen and double buffering which moves the frames into  recommended by Microsoft Corp. for use with Windows(R) NetMeeting(tm).

The VideoONE Communicator is a plug-and-play PCI card A circuit board that plugs into the computer's PCI bus and contains the control electronics for a peripheral device. Starting in the latter half of the 1990s, PCI became very popular. See PCI.  that accelerates Windows NetMeeting performance on any H.323-compliant local- or wide-area network. It significantly enhances real-time collaboration by supporting two-way interactive video and audio conferencing See audioconferencing.  at data rates of 128 Kbps or more. The card currently supports Windows NetMeeting 2.1, and Windows NetMeeting 3.0 (beta).
