Sept. 5: The Real Estate Board of New York is gearing up to host its 20th Annual Pro-Am Tennis Tournament on at Long Island City's Tennisport. Proceeds from the event traditionally benefit the children's programs of the Big Apple Circus including Clown Care Clown Care is a program in hospitals and medical centers involving visits from specially trained clowns. They are sometimes called "Clown Doctors" which is a trademarked name in several countries. , a special rehabilitative program for hospitalized children.

The day-long event begins at 8:30 a.m. and includes breakfast, lunch, tennis clinics, and an award ceremony in addition to the day of matches. Registered members get matched with one professional in the morning and play doubles in the afternoon. Oct. 9: GVA Williams New Jersey will hold its first annual Jimmy Hersh Memorial Golf Outing, in honor of James Hersh, a former senior vice president of GVA Williams New Jersey, at the Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit.
