Workshop

 Holiday Party

Dec. 12: The New York Area Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) will host a three-hour fiesta-themed holiday party at El Rey del Sol at 6 p.m., at 232 West 14th Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, a highlight of the event will be SMPS's toy-drive for the Toys for Tots Toys For Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by Major Bill Hendricks.  program, which serves needy children in our area during the holiday season. Guests are encouraged to donate unwrapped toys for the annual drive. U.S. Marines will pick up the toys and deliver them to underprivileged children. SMPS will also hold its annual raffle of gifts donated by supportive sponsors. In addition, the organization will feature a signing of the children's book An Ellis Island Christmas, written by SMPS member Maxinne Leighton. The proceeds from both the raffle and the book signing will be donated to the chapter's scholarship fund, which will be awarded to a marketing student from a local university. The cost is $85 for members and $100 for nonmembers.
