1. WEEKES Big Sky Farms Inc. opened its Grisdale Unit in September. The new plant is the first in Saskatchewan to house over 5,000 sows on the breeding unit. The Grisdale Unit employs 20 full-time and four part-time people.

2. BELLE PLAINE Belle Plaine may refer to:

 Prairie Sun Energy Products will build a $60-million ethanol plant. Between 120 and 150 construction jobs will be created, and the plant will create 30 to 35 permanent positions upon completion.

3. MOOSE JAW Moose Jaw, city (1991 pop. 33,593), S central Sask., Canada. It is a railroad and distribution center, with oil refineries, meatpacking and dairy-processing plants, flour, lumber, and woolen mills, stockyards, and Canada's largest jet-training base.  Film crews recently finished shooting the made-for-TV movie The Risen. Moose Jaw native Jeff Beesley directed the film, produced by Gail Tilson of Independent Moving Pictures in Regina.

4. KENOSEE LAKE Kenosee Lake is a lake in south east Saskatchewan, Canada. The lake lies in Moose Mountain Provincial Park. The lake is a resort for many people from south east Saskatchewan including Regina. The Village of Kenosee Lake consists mainly of cabins and businesses.  The Chalet, located in the Moose Mountain Provincial Park, has recently completed its renovations and held its grand reopening.

5. PRINCE ALBERT The Wapawekka joint venture group officially opened its new gas-fired wood drying kilns at its sawmill sawmill, installation or facility in which cut logs are sawed into standard-sized boards and timbers. The saws used in such an installation are generally of three types: the circular saw, which consists of a disk with teeth around its edge; the band saw, which  site near Prince Albert. The firm reports that the new kilns will save on transportation costs, as it no longer has to ship wood away to be dried.

6. NORTH BATTLEFORD The Battlefords Credit Union celebrated its 50th anniversary in October. The credit union will now be known as BCU BCU British Canoe Union

8. KINISTINO The Kinistino Town Council agreed to become part of the Prince Albert Regional Economic Development Authority.

9. NIPAWIN Newfield Seeds says it will rebuild after its seed-cleaning plant was destroyed by fire in May 2002. Newfield plans to have the new plant running by fall 2003.

) was awarded a $3.5-million contract from the state of Virginia to install weigh-in-motion truck stations at four interstate locations. IRD also just completed a $2-million expansion.

SASKATOON $19 million of renovations to the Saskatoon airport are now complete. The renovations included expanding the terminal, adding a food court and an 80-seat restaurant and bar.

11. YORKTON Leon's Manufacturing Company Inc. celebrated its 50th anniversary in business.

12. WYNYARD The Wynyard Chamber of Commerce hosted "Lilydale Day" on October 3 in honor of the Lilydale plant. The ribbon cutting on an expansion to the plant also took place at the celebration.

13. ESTEVAN Graham and Nancy Shirley celebrated 25 years as owners of Bert Baxter Transport Ltd. The company employs 67 people and has 40 trucks.

NIPAWIN The Town of Nipawin and a number of partners signed a Memorandum of Understanding A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is a legal document describing a bilateral or multilateral agreement between parties. It expresses a convergence of will between the parties, indicating an intended common line of action and may not imply a legal commitment.  to build a biomass ethanol facility in the Nipawin area.

SASKATOON Teachers Credit Union purchased land in the University Heights area to build a combined branch and head office. Teachers Credit Union celebrates 50 years in business in 2002.

14. CANORA A $250,000-cardlock system is being constructed by the Gateway Co-op.

15. WEYBURN Weyburn Co-op is in the process of renovating its 24,000-square-foot food store. The $750,000-upgrade will be completed in the fall of 2002.
