MELFORT The city of Melfort has posted significant growth in building permits over last year. In the first six months of 2002, over 17.4 million in building permits were issued, compared to 2.5 million in 2001. 1

CHRISTOPHER LAKE The new Lakeland Credit Union has opened and recently celebrated its grand opening. 2

MOOSE JAW Moose Jaw, city (1991 pop. 33,593), S central Sask., Canada. It is a railroad and distribution center, with oil refineries, meatpacking and dairy-processing plants, flour, lumber, and woolen mills, stockyards, and Canada's largest jet-training base.  Casino Moose Jaw also recently celebrated its grand opening. 3

PONTEIX Pioneer Co-op has begun construction on a new 7,000-square-foot agro centre that includes a 2,000-square-foot chemical shed. The total cost of the project is approximately $400,000 and will be completed this fall. 6

REGINA A $7.2-million, 40,000-square-foot Sherwood Co-op grocery store is being constructed, and is expected to create 100 new jobs. 7

YORKTON Morris Industries is planning to hire additional employees in its research and development department. Positions include design engineers, research and development technicians, welders and other shop positions. 11

MOOSE JAW The Temple Gardens Mineral Spa recently held grand opening celebrations for its new renovations and additional rooms.

MEADOW LAKE The Meadow Lake Co-op began construction on its new 28,000-square-foot grocery store, which will cost an estimated $4 million. 12

NORTH BATTLEFORD Traffic at North Battleford's Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre increased by 66 per cent over the first seven months of this year. 13

MOOSOMIN Greenline Equipment recently celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated building. 14

SASKATOON Two new businesses, a Winners store and an Olive Garden restaurant, have signed leases to open on Eighth Street.
