Wells Fargo will expand its InterCuenta Express Consumer Money Transfer Service to create the largest U.S. bank managed remittance distribution channel. It enables Wells Fargo customers to send money to friends and family in Mexico. Through a partnership with HSBC and other institutions, Wells Fargo will have a network of over 3,000 banks and 8,200 ATMs in Mexico. HSBC alone has 1,400 branches and 4,500 ATMs across Mexico.

New technology for all digital Hewlett Packard copy machines will be produced in Guadalajara, company spokesmen have said. A new multifunction design center will employ 160 Mexican engineers who will create devices that will help HP compete in the new market of products that combine the functions of fax machines, copiers and printers. The global market for these products is currently estimated at U$18 billion and its expected to grow about 18% per year over the next five years, the company said.

Prudential Real Estate investors announced that it has launched a joint venture with Bermudez International to develop industrial, light manufacturing and warehouse distribution centers in northern Mexico.

ATA Airlines, Inc. announced plans to provide an additional round-trip flight, six days a week between Chicago Midway International Airport and Guadalajara. The additional 13 flights per week began operating in June.

Cydsa S.A. de C.V. of Monterrey and Fintech Advisory, Inc. have reached an agreement to renegotiate US$159 million in debt to shareholders that mature in 2009. The company will seek the required consent to exchange all outstanding notes for newly issued shares of the company representing 60% of its share capital. Cydsa is a corporation with a presence in three business segments: chemicals and plastics, acrylic fibers and yarns and flexible packaging.

Sunburst Acquisitions IV, Inc. announced positive results from the "Cieneguita" mining property located near Chihuahua City. The company estimates that a production rate of 20,000 ounces of gold per year is achievable. The company is currently evaluating other properties in areas of historic production throughout Mexico.

The Manzanillo port authority aims to open warehouse facilities in Guanajuato in November. The aim of the project is to ensure the merchandise that arrives in Manzanillo's port will be available in other regions of Mexico. Cargo will be moved via Ferrocarril Mexicano railroads. The facilities will consist of duty free centers and warehouses.

Maxcom plans to invest up to US$45 million in its telecom infrastructure by year-end. Investments will cover fiber optics, access equipment and microwaves to expand the coverage network in residential areas. Maxcom also plans to activate between 7,000 and 8,000 new lines by year-end to spread between Mexico City, Queretaro and Puebla. The goal is to increase Mexico's teledensity and boost geographic coverage areas.
