Three months ago, sailor Tim Kent Tim Kent may refer to:
  • The vocalist for Los Capitanes
  • The contemporary representational painter, who was the original bass player for the hard rock band The Giraffes.
 began the adventure of a lifetime: a 28,800-mile voyage around the globe, alone, in a 50-foot sailboat (see GeoSkills, September 20, 2002, p. 20). A participant in the Around Alone sailing race, Kent is scheduled to spend four more lonely months at sea. Where is he now, and how is he doing?

"It is wet down below," says Kent. "The boat is awash in waves all of the time, and water is raining through the windows into the cabin. Everything is soaked."
